I think we all reach that strange point while vacationing or away from home where we’re kind of ready to be back in our normal surroundings. Right? Please tell me I’m not alone. It’s been over 3 weeks and I miss my hunny and my kitty, my king-sized bed, my enormous comforter, my pillow made for side-sleepers, my fireplace full of books, the water pressure in my shower, etc.
This weekend, I have been working on my Aerial Yoga Certification. Yes, you read that right; there is such a thing as doing yoga while suspended above the ground in a billowing swing made of fabric. When you aren’t nauseated, that is. I realized today, mid-nausea, after THREE HOURS of hanging upside-down repeatedly, that the limitations I was experiencing allowed me to delve into adjusting and guiding others (i.e., the whole reason I am even here). Rather than swinging wildly in all directions, flipping around and bending and wrapping my legs around to hold myself above the ground, I got to sip peppermint tea and direct and assist my partner into the postures. In fact, I am almost grateful that I felt horrible in the process, because I learned to teach the material by…actually teaching.
All else aside, Aerial Yoga is wonderfully intense. Given that this is an immersion program, I have had to eat really lightly over the course of the Aerial Yoga certification to ensure my highest level of comfort hanging in all directions for 8-9 hours. Tomorrow will be my third day doing so, and I have to say–I. Want. Ice cream. And tacos. And pizza. Does this make me the worst yogi ever?
Thank goodness for lassis, I suppose. Lately, I’ve been chopping up fresh peaches and strawberries, only to obliterate them with plain yogurt and ice into tangy, silky, smooth goodness. A sip is not a sip when you just can’t stop there. Friends, I need you to trust me: this recipe is well worth the brain freeze.
One Year: Raspberry Cream Cheese Breakfast Buns. Don’t even get me started.

5-6 whole strawberries, fresh or frozen
